The YouTube Music app is getting a major update. The changes include a new design and new features, in order to improve the user experience and refine it to compete with the competition like Spotify and Apple Music.

What’s new in the new YouTube Music
- Changing songs or videos in the app has an option always visible in the interface, to facilitate the transition
- Song lyrics will start to appear during music playback, which can be static or dynamic
- The play page has controls for repeating or shuffling music
- By tapping the track art, you can download, share, and add music to playlists
In this way, the app becomes more complete and intuitive. These changes are being introduced gradually and may not be available to all users. If you have an Android, it’s a matter of seeing if you have the updated app, making sure you have the latest version of YouTube Music.
YouTube Music will replace Google Play Music
By the end of the year, Google should completely phase out Play Music, its standard audio player. This will probably be the next service to be added to the “Google Cemetery”, joining other dead products like Google+ and Inbox.
Thus, YouTube Music has been updated with more and more features, in order to become the standard Android player. In addition, YouTube Music is also a subscription service, similar to Spotify. The subscription costs € 6.99 per month and offers offline and ad-free playback within the dedicated app.
