YouTube Music is still unable to present itself as a true Spotify rival, yet it has grown consistently. For some months now, users of the music streaming service have been requesting the implementation of widgets in the Android version.
Now, with the latest update (version 3.39), YouTube Music for Android has finally received support for widgets. However, users would like to see a more versatile implementation.
YouTube Music Widget for Android is too simple
While its implementation is great news for users of the service, Google could have made a much more interactive widget available.
This first implementation comes with a 4×1 hard format. Although it is possible to expand the widget to 5×1 to take up the full width of the screen, "stretching" vertically does not cause the widget to expand. This is the main criticism of this widget, especially when Google Play Music allows you to expand your widget vertically.
With regard to its color palette, it has a very interesting feature. The widget adapts its colors according to the dominant tones in the image of the music being played.
