Huawei is ready to upgrade many of its smartphones to the Harmony OS. This update is expected to reach many Huawei smartphones that have the Android system installed.
Although there is no concrete information about which mobile phones will be updated, it is expected to happen in devices that are now being launched without Google services.
Update will bring Harmony OS to Huawei Android smartphones
That is, if you buy a Huawei smartphone now you will have a device with a capped Android system. That’s because you can’t officially install Google services.
Mobile phones arrive without Google Play Store, YouTube, Google Maps and other company apps. Therefore, there is no reason for Huawei to continue to bring the Android system to its devices. This is because your apps store app (App Gallery) works on both the Android system and the new Harmony OS system.
Wang Chenglu, chairman of Huawei’s software department, recently said the brand was trying to work out the US sanction that prohibited them from doing business with US companies. That is, the goal would not be to bring Harmony OS to your smartphones anytime soon.
However, it seems that with each passing day Huawei is further away from getting back to having Google services on its equipment. Therefore, the brand said that it is prepared to update some smartphones to Harmony OS as early as next year.
As we mentioned earlier, it is too early to understand which will be the first smartphones to receive this new update. However, we believe we will know more about it soon.
