Originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2005, the Yakuza saga will host its seventh game on PlayStation 4. Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon will be released on January 16, 2020, developed by SEGA. See the trailer, which has an impressive presentation.
Although the graphics don't exactly leave us open-mouthed, the whole game looks cinematic, like a Japanese action movie. Also, the animations are very realistic. The game is obviously inspired by works of fiction such as Ichi The Killer and Oldboy, with the main character being a lone ex-prisoner involved in the Japanese organized crime world.
Yakuza is one of the longest-running game series ever and one of SEGA's most beloved franchises, alongside Shenmue, with a similar story. The main character is Kasuha Ichiban, back on the streets after 18 years in prison.
Yakuza 7 has a combat system that not all players will enjoy
Unveiled in April this year, Yakuza 7 will have a completely different combat system than the other titles in the saga. The combat will be turn based RPG style. This change will probably not appeal to fans of the series, who may not get used to the drastic change.
However, if the combat mechanics are well executed, it can even result in turn mode. As mentioned, this game will only arrive on PlayStation 4 from 2020. Japan will host it in January and the rest of the world will receive the game in the coming months.
