Soon Xiaomi secured its second patent for a folding smartphone. Once again with a shell shape that resembles the Motorola RAZR 2019, this second patent also features a pop-up camera.
The first patent dates from November, and the new one was granted on December 6. Let’s Go Digital took the patent drawings, and put them closer to what may one day be reality.

We see a device that folds vertically but clearly has a special twist. Here we don't see any border at the top of the screen for cameras or sensors, and “borderless” is really the big picture.
To achieve this, the patent shows a camera with pop-up mechanism. This means that if the user needs to take a selfie or shoot a video, the mechanical camera kicks in.

On the back of the device we see two cameras and an LED flash. These are even more unique when you consider that they are housed in a small screen capable of showing notifications with the folded smartphone.
This is one more possible view of a future folding smartphone from Xiaomi. The brand will already be working on its bet for this market segment, but we will have to wait a while to see it in practice.
