Samsung and Motorola presented the world with their first foldable shell-shaped smartphones in late 2019. And Xiaomi may be one of the next manufacturers to bet on the format.

The LetsGoDigital website unveiled a patent registered by Xiaomi in November 2019, where we see a foldable shell-shaped smartphone. The image below gives us a good indication of how the design of the brand’s future equipment might look.

Your camera module immediately pops into view. This is because we see one sensor at the rear and four sensors at the front. The great attraction is that they are rotating and can rotate in the opposite direction.

This is an idea similar to the one we’ve seen on devices like the Asus ZenFone 6 or the Samsung Galaxy A80. The big difference is that in this case the camera modules rotate horizontally.

This rotating part appears independently of the screen, which does not appear to contain any holes or notch. This means that, although we have cameras at the top, the use of the screen would be total.

Xiaomi folding smartphone arrives in the second half 2020

The source reveals that Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone will be launched in the second half of 2020. However, this is not guaranteed to be its final appearance.

It should be noted that there are no signs of a second screen, as in the Samsung or Motorola models. Furthermore, if confirmed, the rotating chamber could add even more fragility to equipment that, being foldable, is already fragile enough.
