Xiaomi has already established itself as one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world, and the same success applies to the wearables world as well. Over the past few years, they have succeeded in dominating the smartband segment with the extremely popular "Mi Band" line.
The Amazfit smartwatch offering is also extremely popular, developed in partnership with Huami, but none comes equipped with Google's Wear OS.
After the first information about a Xiaomi smartwatch with Wear OS arrived at the end of last month, news comes from China today. Apparently, the new wearable will be officially unveiled in the Chinese market even before the end of the month.
What can we expect from this Xiaomi smartwatch
There is not much concrete information about the specifications of the first Xiaomi smartwatch with Wear OS. However, the little information that has been revealed points to a high end product.
According to the latest rumors, it will come equipped with a processor developed by the Chinese manufacturer (Xiaomi Wear) and will have support for eSIM cards, 4G LTE, NFC networks and even virtual assistant. Possibly Xiaomi will finally 'attack' the popular Apple Watch, launching its first high-end smartwatch.
In addition, it was also revealed that the smartwatch will come with a custom version of Wear OS, called "Mi Wear OS", which is likely to have a next connection to MIUI 11.
In early September, Xiaomi registered several names in China: "Millenium MIX Alpha", "Mi MIX Alpha" and "Mi Watch COLOR". We have already seen the Mi MIX Alpha being introduced recently, so it shouldn't take long for your smartwatch to happen. Possibly their name will really be Xiaomi Mi Watch, and they are likely to drop the word "color".
