Xiaomi 'plays' with notch in Mi 9T promotional videos

“Watch out for Notch!” – that's what the latest Xiaomi Mi 9T promo videos are called. In a clear reference to the fact that the notch is a distracting element on a device screen, Xiaomi has released three videos where it tries to convey the message that notch on screen is not good.

The videos focus on this theme as the promotional material is the Mi 9T. This is a smartphone that presents itself without any notch and with a front camera with mechanism popup. The first episode shows a distracted barber with the single mirror.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 has a notch drop of water

We don't have to go far back in time to find Xiaomi devices with the famous notch. The most striking case is the Mi 9 – the latest high-end manufacturer. Although we understand the message that the manufacturer wants to convey, after these videos it is good that Xiaomi will not re-launch devices with notch, because it will confuse consumers.

The other two videos follow the same idea, only in different situations. In one we see a dentist distracted by notch, and in the third episode, is a makeup artist who is distracted while putting lipstick on a client.

These videos could mean the end of notch on Xiaomi smartphones

Taking these videos seriously, we believe Xiaomi has come to look at carvings as a thing of the past. That is, the company may even have broken this feature on their smartphones. If it does not, it will contradict itself in the future.

Although this can be interpreted as a message to its competitors, Xiaomi is also playing with itself. The company has launched several devices with notch, and this can mean breaking with that past.
