Xiaomi continues to ride the smash-hit wave of its line of smartbands with the launch of Mi Band 4. Although we are a long way from the introduction of Xiaomi Mi Band 5, the first information has started to circulate.
Apparently, the new model may come with a feature that many wish they had already seen in Mi Band 4, global support for NFC.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will let you make NFC payments anywhere
Xiaomi has already introduced models with support for NFC payments on Mi Band 3 and Mi Band 4. However, support for these features is unique to the Chinese market, where users can use Mi Band to make payments, integrate access cards, public transport pass, etc.
According to information acquired by the TizenHelp website, the manufacturer is considering bringing the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 NFC model to global markets as well. This decision was clearly influenced by the great success that the NFC variant had in China. Clearly users give extra importance to extra features, considering the slight difference in their price.
When should the new Mi Band arrive?
It has not yet been confirmed, but as in previous years, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is expected to be introduced during the second quarter of 2020.
As I mentioned, we are still a long way from its presentation, so no information on possible design news or even specifications has emerged. The only circulating rumors point to support for the 'always on screen' feature, which will surely become a hit with users.
One thing is for sure, Xiaomi will eventually bring new technologies and innovations to the Mi Band 5, as it cannot risk being threatened by competition. This year we have seen manufacturers launch products that are very similar to Xiaomi Mi Band 4, such as Honor Band 5.
