Xiaomi continues to bet strongly on the evolution of its offerings in the wearables segment, more specifically TWS wireless headsets. With the regular reinforcement of its offerings, the manufacturer continues to grow its market share with each passing quarter, being the only one that appears capable of coming to threaten Apple.
According to data advanced by Counterpoint, Xiaomi ended 2020 with a market share of 13%, which guaranteed it the second position in the ranking of the largest manufacturers of wireless headsets in the world. It is true that they are still far from reaching the 29% registered by Apple, but they have already guaranteed it a quiet advantage for the remaining rivals.
Closing the podium is Samsung (tied with JBL) with a share of only 5%, making it very clear that the exclusive bet on “premium” wireless headsets does not have the results that the manufacturer would certainly want.
Xiaomi continues to shorten Apple’s advantage in this competitive segment
Xiaomi’s growth in sales of TWS headsets is in itself impressive, but it becomes even more so when we look at its performance compared to its big rival, Apple.
Between the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2020, Xiaomi managed to shorten the advantage that Apple had from 25% to just 16%. Interestingly, Apple focuses on selling headsets positioned in the premium / high-end segment, while its rival’s main focus is the opposite market segment, focusing on the launch of extremely affordable products.
Thus, there are no major doubts about the current situation of this market, where the clear leaders are Apple and Xiaomi. We will hardly see other manufacturers manage to get close to the numbers reached by both brands.
