Xiaomi could launch a foldable smartphone like you’ve never seen

Xiaomi has already indicated on several occasions that it intends to enter the foldable smartphone market. In recent years, we have seen several patents that leave us some clues and today we have another case of the kind.

As noted by the publication Lets Go Digital, Xiaomi has submitted a new patent for a foldable smartphone with a sliding screen. A small detail that we have not yet seen on any device in this segment.

Xiaomi wants to develop a foldable smartphone with a sliding screen

The patent in question was submitted to the competent authorities in April this year, but has only now been approved. In it we see the schematics of a device with several similarities to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, namely its external screen.

It is in this component that magic happens. The outer screen of this hypothetical foldable smartphone from Xiaomi can slide downwards to reveal what appears to be the headset and a dual front camera.

Inside we have a large screen without interruptions, not even for an interior front camera. At the rear we have a camera with four lenses, but be aware that these details may not be faithfully replicated in an eventual marketable product.

That said, it remains to be seen what advantage Xiaomi sees in this concept. Sliding the outer screen down just to reveal a headphone and the front camera does not seem to be going to radically change the use of the equipment.

In any case, it is important to stress that a patent is just an indication that the company is developing the idea. Nothing guarantees us that Xiaomi will launch a product to the market as we see it in this document.
