WhatsApp continues to present itself as one of the most popular messaging platforms ever, being used globally by large millions of users every day. In addition to its application for iOS and Android, it is also available in a Web version that has evolved visibly during the past few months.
After receiving some of the most popular features available for the Apps, new information discovered by the WABetaInfo team points to the imminent arrival of one of the most desired features, voice and video calls.
With the addition of support for video calls and voice calls, the web version of WhatsApp will now be much more complete, making users not need to pick up their smartphone whenever they are using the PC.
How the new functionality in the web version of WhatsApp will work
First of all, it is important to note that this feature is not yet available, and is still under development. However, it has already been possible to access some images of how it will work, making us even more excited about its eventual implementation.
According to the images published by WABetaInfo, two buttons for calls (video and voice) will be implemented in the upper right corner of the chat window, similar to what happens in the version for Android and iOS.
As soon as this feature is implemented, whenever you receive a voice / video call, a new pop-up window will appear where you will be able to reject, or accept the call directly in your browser. As soon as the connection is established, a small window will always be present with the status of the call and the various buttons to interact with it.
Although it has not been confirmed in the most recent discoveries, everything indicates that the team of developers will also be working on support for group calls. Especially during pandemic times, this would be a crucial addition for users to start using the web version of WhatsApp more and more.
