After being “asleep” for a while, everything indicates that the Joker malware is back and has been confirmed in at least 16 applications available on the Google Play Store. If you’ve never heard of this malware, you’re in luck. Basically, you can stay hibernated in applications until you pass Google’s security barriers, serving as a bridge to other malware.
Once active, the Joker helps to load more malware onto the smartphone, which then aims to subscribe to WAP services (Wireless Application Protocol) without the user’s knowledge or consent. Furthermore, according to security company ZScaler, Joker is also able to help hackers access your personal data, such as messages, contact list and personal information.
