If you have an Android smartphone, you should be more than used to receiving alerts about applications that can put your privacy at risk. This is one of the main problems of the Google Play Store, presenting its users with Apps that are not always what they really promise.
This time, the alert originates from an investigation carried out by Avast, which discovered a total of 21 applications on the Google Play Store, mostly disguised as games. These Apps managed to bypass the Google Play Store security system and have been installed more than 8 million times.
The main goal is to get users to download through misleading advertisements or copies of popular games. Once installed, your work begins with the presentation of intrusive advertisements that often start to appear even when the application is closed. This type of action ends up generating huge revenues for hackers and can lead to users receiving large phone bills to pay.
List of 21 applications that you cannot have on your smartphone
The Avast team warned that at least 19 applications from this list are still available for download on the Play Store, while Google carries out its investigations. It may take some time for all Apps to be banned from the platform, but it is important that once installed, it is up to you to delete the smartphone application!
It is increasingly difficult to be able to identify these applications after they are installed. Many of them arrive with protection features that make them disappear from the application drawer, being only possible to find them through the list of Apps in the phone settings.
For many resources that Google can invest in increasing the security of the Google Play Store, the hackers responsible for this type of adware continue to develop their techniques, always finding ways to circumvent the security measures implemented.
Thus, as we have already warned on other occasions, the first safety barrier must always be the user. In addition to paying close attention to the type of App that you consider installing on your smartphone, you should take a look at the comments left by other users.
