M8 Box Factory Reset

Do you have issues with your U-M8 Android EBox TV box device and want to do a factory reset on it? So you should be aware if you do a factory reset so it will delete all the data on your device and it will be left with default apps on it which came with the firmware on the device or as last time you updated the firmware.So there are two ways to factory reset the device back to how you received it from us.

First Method

  • Go to Main Settings via main screen or apps menu on your device.
  • Now select Other and then go to More Settings.
  • Now go to Backup And Reset option.
  • If needed here you can do a back
  • If needed here you can do a backup via Backup My data option for app data, WiFi password and other settings of the device to your Google account.

Now you can proceed for Factory Data Reset so once you click on it it will show a warning screen so you need to click on Reset Device and on next screen click Erase Everything. Now the device will shut down and reboot so it may take a few minute to reset device completely so don’t turn off the device or remove power cable until it boots to the menu screen.

Second Method

In this method you can do a factory reset of device using pin method and it can be also done if you can’t get to menu on device when powering on so this is how you can reset if you have blue light on device when powering on your EBox device but no display on TV screen and also you can refresh device firmware using an SD card with this method –So for Re-flash of device firmware using this method please download the firmware for your device U-M8 using a computer and check the instruction on the page for downloading the files and unpack on SD card from here.

Now connect the SD card with firmware loaded on your M8 Android EBox TV box SD card slot and look on the right of the device there is a small hole with a reset button inside it.First remove the power cable from device and use a pin and press the pin into hole until you hear a sound that it got pressed and now connect the power cable back to device with continue pressing the reset button via pin and than once the screen flash than remove the pin from reset button and it will be showing installing System updated on TV screen so it should complete the Reset/Re-flesh process now and will load the menu screen on device when completed.So during this process don’t remove power cable or turn off the device.     I tried installing a firmware to my M8 box, the Android with the progress bar ran until the end and everything but then a green screen showed with another progress bar that ran to the end, but at the end nothing happens. It just says “warning: don’t power off

      Sound like the box will not take any firmware. You can’t do much about it.

    Hi I bought a m8 android box from yourselves last year. The box has started showing a message. ” This box has a serious error and needs to reboot” this message is in orange writing and white back ground. Can this be resolved or has the box developed a fault which cannot be fixed?

      Hi Roy, You could try a manual firmware upgrade by clicking here and you will need an SD card for this method or if the device is still within the years warranty you may send it in to us to rectify.
