Twitter is starting to implement a new feature called “Fleets”. This is very similar to Instagram Stories, as it clears tweets after 24 hours.

After being only available in Brazil, the new functionality is also being tested by users in Italy. This expansion comes after the social network noticed a large flow of users experiencing the novelty.

How Fleets works:

With this feature, users can share text, photos or videos as they normally do. The big difference is that after 24 hours, they disappear from your profile.

There’s now more to the conversation behind the Retweet count. On iOS, tapping into any Tweet, then tapping “Retweets” will show you the Retweets with comments.

How the idea came up:

According to Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter’s product leader, the idea comes after several user complaints. This was because it was said that they did not have much control over the visibility of their content.

As with Instagram, the new feature will show you the content individually in circles at the top of the app. As you can see in the video above, it is an interface that is very familiar.

This is a feature that, as in other social networks, will certainly succeed. The big advantage will certainly be to reduce spam on your timeline, since you will make certain tweets that will be deleted after a day.
