Turn your TV into a giant digital picture frame with a Fire TV

How to customize your Fire TV screen saver

There are devices that, even though they are very inexpensive, end up becoming an essential for many of us. One of them is the Fire TV, although with the arrival of the new Chromecast with Google TV or the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick they have more and more competition. But if at home you have also opted for Alexa as a smart voice assistant, then it is clear that you will be interested in closing the ecosystem around it.

As you will have seen if you read us frequently, we have told you everything that the Fire TV Stick can bring you as a device connected to your television. And it does not matter whether or not this is a smart screen. What’s more, there are cases where even having a Smart TV you end up using a Fire TV because the Alexa integration compensates or because it is much easier to find applications to access different services than to wait for the corresponding version to be launched for your TV.

Well, among all those options there is also one that allows you to make these small HDMI sticks or that new version with a cube format a little more personal. We refer to the possibility of personalizing the screen saver with your own photographs. In this way, while you are not watching anything on TV, you can use it as a huge digital photo frame.

Ok, you may not be interested in it due to the energy consumption and wear that, for example, OLED panels can cause. But it is not something for you to have it on 24 hours a day, just a function that you can take advantage of when organizing a party, dinner or event at home; Or if you dedicate yourself to making videos for YouTube and you don’t want a huge black rectangle to appear when you record yourself behind your back.

How you take advantage of this option is up to you, here the important thing is that you know how you can do it and from there you will see how to get the most out of the option of customizing your Fire TV screensaver. So let’s look at the process itself.

How to customize your Fire TV screensaver

To begin with, the option that allows you to customize the screensaver of your Fire TV is linked to the use of Amazon Photo. Amazon’s photographic storage service that offers a certain capacity for free and that depending on whether you are an Amazon Prime subscriber or you will not be able to enjoy it with less limitations. Although you can also hire it without having to be Amazon Prime.

Therefore, once the Amazon Photos application is downloaded on your Fire TV, perform the following steps:

  1. If you are going to use your mobile device, open the Amazon Photos application on your smartphone
  2. Go to the More tab and once inside search Customize Echo Show and Fire TV
  3. Tap on this option and activate the option of Daily Memories or add your own Collection of moments
  4. Ready, from that moment the photos that will be displayed on your Fire TV are the ones that the service reminds you or you have in the selected collection

In the case of not using the application on your smartphone, then you will have to turn to your Fire TV directly:

  1. Open your Fire TV settings
  2. In the option of Screen and sounds, tap on Screensaver
  3. Tap Current Screensaver and then select the collection of photos you want to display

As before, you will be ready. From that moment, when your Fire TV goes into sleep mode and activates the screensaver, it will show those photographs that you have selected.
