The construction of smartphones has focused on three types of materials. The most economical are made of plastic (polycarbonate), and the most expensive are made of metal or a mixture of glass and metal. However, we’ve already seen examples of devices premium built in ceramic.
You may never have heard of a company called Carbon Mobile. But this will go down in history for having announced the first smartphone built in carbon fiber – the Carbon 1 Mark II.
Smartphone is only 6.3mm thick and weighs 125 grams
The smartphone features HyRECM technology. In practice, the carbon fibers are interwoven, so that a very light and thin device has been created. It is only 6.3mm thick and weighs 125 grams.
We are talking about a device that stands out for its construction, but has a 6.01-inch AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass 6. The processor that controls the operations is Mediatek’s Helio 90.
It has a fingerprint sensor on the side, and its battery comes with “only” 3050mAh. It is not surprising, considering the thickness of the equipment that is offered.
Carbon 1 Mark II is in pre-order limited to 2000 units
The price of Carbon 1 Mark II is its most bittersweet point, considering its processor. It is available in pre-order for a price of € 800 (paid 30% during pre-order). According to the official website, deliveries will be made from June and are limited to 2000 units.
