Same design, new functions
The person in charge of filtering the information about the Sony WH-1000XM4 has been a Twitter user with access to the company’s Headphone Connect application code. Thanks to this, it has been able to obtain information that until now we did not handle about these headphones that are long awaited by those who want to see the new generation of one of the best noise-canceling headphones on the market.
The main novelty that is detailed is that the M4 can be paired simultaneously to two devices, something that until now cannot be done. If you want to use the M3 with a different device, you have to reconnect them with the equipment that interests you, a step that would now be eliminated with this new type of support.

Looks identical to the XM3.
It’ll be able to change some (if not all) headphone settings based on your location (set locations or your own) and uses Google Maps API for it.

We would also find a mode called Smart talking, which must be some kind of function that, if activated, detects the voices in our environment and adjusts the sound accordingly so that we can hear them. As well indicated in The Verge, in the current generation we already have a similar mode, so it must be a substantial improvement and even more efficient than what we already know.
As for his design, As we already knew from previous leaks, there are no news, not even in terms of color. We would have a discreet version in black again and then a second in beige. Remember that they are expected with a battery superior to their predecessors, of about four hours more.
When will the WH-1000XM4 be released?
That is the great question that we all ask ourselves and for which we still do not have an answer. Without a doubt, all these leaks make us think that they are much closer than we imagined, especially knowing that they even went through the Federal Communications Commission for approval a few months ago.
If we pay attention to the release dates of the WH-1000XM3 – under these lines – they should see the light by the end of August, although many expect that go ahead a little and dare to come to light sooner (maybe next month?). Others, however, are less optimistic despite the rumors and bet on a launch in early September coinciding with the Berlin IFA 2020 technology fair that has already confirmed its celebration (with reduced capacity and extraordinary measures) for this year.
Be that as it may, they are sure to receive all the attention they deserve when they dress long. With each generation these Sony headphones have only known how to improve and meet expectations, so we do not doubt that the fourth generation will keep the (very) high bar in the market for wireless headphones with Noise Cancellation.
Do you want to make your bet? Are you waiting for their launch to buy them?
