Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G

2020 was a difficult year for the mobile industry. There was a drop in sales from several smartphone manufacturers, and several launches were postponed throughout the year. We still have great launches this year and, therefore, the 4gnews team chooses to choose the equipment launched during 2020 that we like the most.

This is the year that I personally switched smartphones. For the first time I also had the opportunity to test some of the best smartphones on the market. In this list I gathered five of my favorite smartphones of the year, with the respective justification for the choices. The list has no specific order.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G

This is the best Android smartphone that passed through my hands in 2020. Its construction is robust, polished and there is the feeling that we have a powerful piece of technology in our hands. I confess I’m not the biggest fan of Samsung’s ‘interface’ and the numerous applications pre-installed on the device, but the curved 120Hz AMOLED screen is simply phenomenal. And if I forget the video, it’s my favorite camera on a smartphone this year. Read our review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G here.

Apple iPhone 12

This is the smartphone I recently chose for new personal equipment. It is what I consider to be the safest choice among the new Apple devices, and I finally praise the bet on an OLED screen (after the LCD on the previous model). The cameras are very competent, especially for those who want equipment whose main objective is to take it out of their pocket, point and take it out. In the video, the iPhone 12 dazzles in all aspects. The fact that it has a 6.1 “inch flat screen is a big bonus for me.

Asus ZenFone 7 Pro

This equipment was a real surprise for me. At the time when I was able to test the Asus ZenFone 7 Pro, it was a smartphone that satisfied me in almost all aspects. The cameras are competent, and work equally well for selfies or vlogging thanks to the rotating mechanism. Its performance is top notch, and the full 90Hz screen is a delight. This is the best battery I found in a high-end smartphone this year. In addition, it has an almost pure Android experience. Read our review of ZenFone 7 Pro here.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S

This is the mid-range smartphone that I advised most during this year, and that some people ended up buying around me. Despite the fact that everyone complains about its size, they also praise the quality-price. It has competent cameras for price and performance does not disappoint. In addition, the battery easily lasts two days for regular users.

OnePlus 8 Pro

This is the top-of-the-range Android smartphone that I ended up advising more this year, as it brings together the main capabilities that I consider necessary. For the first time, OnePlus bet on wireless charging, and the 120Hz screen combined with QuadHD + resolution is the best you’ll find in the industry.

These are the equipment that I liked the most among those that I managed to test or passed through my hands. Nevertheless, there are pieces of equipment this year that it is impossible to remain indifferent to. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, only launched in China, is the first to have so talked about 120W charging. For the first time we also have a smartphone on the market with a camera under the screen, the ZTE Axon 20. The Poco X3 NFC is probably the best mid-range of the year.

Follow us to know the choices of the whole team over the next few days.
