The Haunting of Bly Manor is the name of season two of The Haunting of Hill House! Netflix today announced the renewal of its (huge) hit series for a second season.
Indeed, the new entry in the series will have some changes. Therefore, The Haunting of Hill House will move to an anthology format. That is, each new season will have a new story and a new set of characters.
First of all, it should be noted that series creator Mike Flanagan has signed a new deal with Netflix. Flanagan and Trevor Macy (executive producer) are excited about the future at Netflix,
“Netflix has been an important part of our history, and we're proud to have worked with them at The Haunting of Hill House, not forgetting Gerald's Game, Hush and Before I Wake. They have allowed and supported a great deal of our work and we look forward to what follows. ”
The Haunting of Bly Manor promises to bring as many scares and excitement as the past story at Hill House!
This way, we have confirmation that we will not see any member of the Crain family again. In fact, this was expected, as Flanagan said that even if there were new seasons, they would probably not approach this family.
This ad came from The Haunting of Hill House's twitter account, with a mysterious video in which one tried to guess the name of the new entry in the series. Eventually the same account would later confirm its title, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Bly Manor of course caught the eye of many for being the location of another known horror story. In this sense, The Haunting of Bly Manor will be based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw.
This work released in 1898 will then be adapted for television and we assume at this point, as with the Shirley Jackson version, that Flanagan and his team will have freedoms in how they will build the story.
Like Shirley Jackson's work, so too did Henry James's. First the work came to film with the name The Innocents in 1961. Then in 1971, The Preversos is a prequel of this same story and in 2009 also the BBC had its version.
Her original work tells the story of a young housekeeper who moves to Bly Manor to take care of two children, Flora and Miles. However, two children who seemed only curious and naive prove to be far more mysterious and frightening.
Finally, The Haunting of Bly Manor arrives at Netflix in 2020, and if you enjoyed the first entry in the series as much as I did, you'll surely be thrilled with this renewal.
