Canalys, a market research company, published the second quarter 2020 (Q2) market share results on tablets. Although they do not occupy the first or second place, Huawei and Lenovo were the brands that registered the most annual growth, compared to the Q2 of 2019.
Starting with Lenovo, it had an annual growth of 52.9%. Huawei recorded 44.5% annual growth. Overall, the tablet market grew by 26.1%, where Canalys attributes this growth to the global pandemic, which has made many users turn to technology.
Whether for entertainment, school or telecommuting, tablets are becoming popular again. Brands also deserve some credit for trying to bring this category of equipment back into the spotlight. Huawei and Samsung have presented very interesting devices such as MatePad and Tab S.
We also have Amazon, which continues to conquer the market through its Amazon Kindle. These are e-book readers, who still maintain a healthy user base.
Apple continues to dominate the market
As expected, Apple continues to dominate the tablet market, with a 38% market share. IPads continue to be the choice of many users and not just those with iPhones. In recent years, thanks to the iPad Pro, Apple tablets have become a benchmark in productivity.
This year, the iPad Pro has raised the bar in terms of tablet performance. Additionally, with iPadOS updates (iOS for iPad), the equipment is getting better and better.
