Star Trek fans rejoice: The Star Trek: Picard series has already been renewed for a second season. The funniest thing is that the series has not even premiered because it is scheduled for January 23. The series is owned by US broadcaster CBS, which will include it in its CBS All Access subscription. See one of the trailers.
Series will be exclusive to CBS All Access
The series will be available through the CBS All Access subscription provided by Amazon Prime Video. However, while Amazon Prime is available in UK, CBS All Access is exclusive to the United States. It means the series will be unavailable to viewers outside the country, unfortunately.
However, depending on the success of the series, it may be added to the Amazon Prime Video catalog, or available on other platforms. This is a consequence of the “war” of subscription services where users must keep multiple services active to view the desired content.
Star Trek: Picard will be the sequel to the movies
The series will give us insight into the life of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by actor Patrick Stewart. Regarding the story, she will continue the narrative of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) and the latest Star Trek (2009).
Star Trek: Picard events will take place 20 years after the films. Captain Picard is deeply devastated by the destruction of the planet Romulus that occurred in the last movie. Fans of the saga will surely delight in continuing one of the most famous space fiction franchises besides Star Wars.
