The new SoC (system-on-chip) uses lithography / process at 8 nm, having integrated the Snapdragon X51 5G modem with support for both frequencies of the fifth generation of mobile networks, namely mmWave, as well as Sub networks -6 GHz.

The new Qualcomm SoC for cheap smartphones consists of eight cores (octa-core) with processing frequencies up to 2 GHz. It has Kryo 460 cores focused on performance, being based on ARM’s Cortex-A76 up to 2 GHz.

It also has cores more efficient in energy consumption, the Cortex A55 at 1.8 GHz to handle smaller and mundane tasks. The graphic item is in charge of Adreno 619.

According to Qualcomm, the new Snapdragon 480 5G will double the CPU performance – which will translate into speed for the cheapest smartphones. Support for the high refresh rate at 120 Hz is a great asset, even if the maximum resolution is based on the Full-HD + standard. Furthermore, these devices may support photographic sensors with a maximum resolution of 64 MP.

Terminals that can capture video in Full-HD resolution at 60 fps thanks to Qualcomm’s Spectra 345, the image signal processor (ISP). This same chip can now capture video from up to three photo sensors simultaneously.

Finally, there is support for the Wi-Fi 6 network standard, as well as Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DDS).

For smartphones that will cost less than 200 euros, this is a great triumph, made possible by Qualcomm’s SoC.
