Being able to enjoy a random episode may be ideal when you least want to waste time choosing one. Netflix is already testing functionality in its Android app, as noted by a tipster from the Android Police technology site.
The feature was discovered in version 7.6.0 and allows the user to randomly select what they want to see. In addition, within the viewing options, you can see the well-known icon of shuffle labeled "random episode".
Obviously this is a feature that may just be being tried. For now, there is no data to tell if it will reach a large number of people or if it is just an idea under development by the giant of the streaming.
For many, this can be seen as a fully expendable feature. Also, it is unlikely that most consumers will be interested in randomly consuming an episode.
Netflix wants to make life easier for those who don't have time to waste
This is clearly a function that can be created for those who have no time to waste. The idea seems to be satisfying someone who has come home after a day of work and just wants to entertain one of his favorite series. However, you don't want to waste time choosing either the series or the episode.
The functionality is similar to what we have in music services ever. It's for those times when we just feel like being surprised. Whether on Netflix this feature would be a success is doubtful. But in these cases it is always better to have than not to have.
