Reports indicate that Asus will release a sequel to its ROG gaming smartphone. The timing will be around the third quarter of 2019, closer to the end of the year.
It looks like Asus will also be partnering with Tencent to promote the mobile phone in China. Tencent is a distributor of titles like PUBG Mobile.
Although we didn't see it in UK, the first ROG smartphone saw some weight in the market. However, this phone was very expensive during the launch, still worth around a thousand dollars.
Asus will attack Chinese market with second ROG
The truth is that Asus has not been able to stand out in the smartphone segment for a long time. Its mid-range has some success in the Americas (Brazil more specifically) but not enough.
Therefore, the only way for the brand to stand out is to focus more on the premium specialty segment. In this case, on player smartphones with above average specs and solid builds.
However, the niche of gaming smartphones is still small and does not generate a lot of revenue. Razer recently gave up on this market after 2 editions of Razer Phone.
