Samsung felt it was good to give a special Christmas gift to all holders of the Galaxy S9. Unexpectedly, the South Korean giant today began distributing Android Pie to these smartphones. But when will more models follow?

This has been one of the main questions for Galaxy users. Samsung has not always been one of the fastest in update distribution, although it has improved considerably in recent years.

The reason for this may be its interface with many changes compared to pure Android. Lately it has been reducing this personalization and the proof of this is the recently announced One UI that will come with the Android Pie to the Galaxy.

Samsung reveals when to distribute Android Pie to other devices

In the aftermath of the Android Pie distribution for the Galaxy S9 and S9 +, Samsung reveals its plans for the remaining devices. It was with its member application that South Korea announced the dates for the distribution of the next firmware.

Looking at the information is with some wonder that we see the Galaxy S9 entitled to Android Pie in January 2019. Therefore, it should be noted that this was the initial schedule for the distribution of this update.

Moreover, we can consider that this data reflects the distribution for some specific variants, namely those blocked to operators. Given that we must have equal consideration for the other models in this list.

Next we can note that the next in the update line will be the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. According to the revealed image, this phablet will be entitled to Android Pie in February next year.

What about older models?

Already the tops of 2017, the Galaxy S8 and S8 +, will receive their slice of pie in March 2019. That is, more than a year after their presentation. Month in which also the Galaxy Note 8, also 2017, will receive the same treatment.

This same listing shows us that this will be the end of the line for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. 2016 tops will no longer receive system updates, but will certainly continue to feature periodic security updates.

Finally, note that the mid-range Galaxy A will never receive Android Pie before spring. Later next fall there will be a handful of tablets from the South Korean company.

In short, for some of the reasons described above, you should not take all of this data for granted. There may be discrepancies between the schedules described herein and the reality of future events.
