A few days ago we heard that Huawei has patented a new type of construction for its displays. A new process that will allow the company to further reduce the margins of its equipment. Now we also have Samsung performing similar maneuver.
Over the past two years we have seen a strong bet by brands in reducing the margins of their equipment. Something that allows them to accommodate a larger screen in the same physical space.

Even at a time when we already have equipment with a front-panel load factor exceeding 90%, there is still a long way to go. The idea seems to be 100%, but there is still a lot of technology to perfect.
One of these may even go through a new kind of smartphone screen construction. Something that both Samsung and Huawei are already aware of were it not for their new patents.

Like its Chinese rival, Samsung has just patented a new type of construction for its smartphone screens. Something that will allow you to greatly reduce their margins.
Although the end result will be pretty much the same, Samsung's patent has some technical differences from Huawei's. Something that could result in screens with even smaller margins.
Instead of using the back of the device, the South Korean will use four metal strips to support the screen. Moreover, powerful magnets would be used to hold these metal strips together.
This process may prove to be even tougher than Huawei's. This is because the Chinese company uses strong stickers to keep its screen attached to the back of the equipment.
Regardless of the construction method used, these companies are committed to further revolutionizing the construction of a smartphone. The idea, as I said, will be to give us a device whose front panel is just a screen.
However, it is unclear whether this type of construction will ever be used in a final product. We know that companies have spent time and money developing these technologies, so it would make sense to try to take advantage of them in the future.
