During the last few weeks a lot has been said about the arrival of a new type of smartphone, with scrollable screens. Until now, we had 3 manufacturers in the race for the title of “first smartphone with a scrollable screen”, namely Oppo, LG and TCL. However, new information seems to indicate that Samsung may surprise everyone and everything.
The tweet published by the leaker Ice Universe does not arrive with any concrete evidence, but its history should be more than enough to be taken seriously.
The leaker recalled that Samsung never demonstrated any unfinished prototypes of its products to the public. However, it often turns out to be the first manufacturer to make a prototype a reality.
Rollable screen smartphones may not arrive in 2021
Ice Universe goes even further in a second publication, where it states that the technology that allows the construction of these smartphones is still in the testing phase. Considering that it is still a long way from being ready for mass production, the most likely is that 2021 will be the real year of “folding smartphones”.
Although we have already seen a number of smartphones coming to the market in this segment, there are only 3 relevant manufacturers that bet on foldable smartphones.
We are still waiting for the remaining Chinese manufacturers to decide to finally get on the “train”. Thus, it is very likely that in 2021 we will see the first foldable smartphone from Xiaomi, OPPO and perhaps even from Realme.
Not wanting to surprise its fans, it seems that Apple will once again be the last to venture into this new type of smartphone. Several rumors point to the launch of Apple’s first foldable smartphone only in 2022.
