During the last weeks / months, there were many rumors and promises regarding the revolution that is happening in the technology present in smartphones. More specifically, the focus has been on the refresh rate of your screens and obviously, on your photographic capabilities.

Regarding the update rate of its next smartphones, OnePlus published a video that demonstrated the capabilities of its new Fluid Display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Despite sharing on their official Twitter account, many users continued to have doubts about the use of this panel in new smartphones.

OnePlus 8 Pro screen

Now, an image hands-on OnePlus 8 Pro published by True-Tech.net, confirmed that the option for 120Hz will be present at the top of the range. Although this photo probably presents us with a pre-production unit, it seems unlikely that the option will disappear in the final model.

OnePlus 8 Pro will offer 120Hz with Quad HD + resolution

While Samsung was again involved in great controversy, for offering the option for 120Hz on the Galaxy S20 only with a Full HD + resolution, everything indicates that OnePlus will not make the same mistake.

As you can see in the image above, in the three options present in this menu, none of them refer to possible limitations in resolution. In this way, it is expected that the level of your refresh rate can be applied to any level of resolution, be it Full HD + or Quad HD +.

The only warning made by the brand is that, when using 120Hz users can experience a noticeable reduction in the autonomy of the smartphone. On the other hand, if they choose 60Hz, the range should show considerable improvements. But there doesn’t seem to be much doubt that the 120Hz option will be extremely difficult to resist.
