The Kalos Starter Decks feature the three Kalos region starter Pokémon. Each deck contains a regular and deluxe version of the Theme Decks. The Chespin Deck and Fennekin Deck were released on November 8, 2013. They include a rulebook with damage counters and status counters, a deck box featuring the respective Pokemon, and a code to the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online.
The decks were available in both standard and deluxe versions. In addition to the deck, the deluxe editions include a Booster Pack from the Black & White Series. You can choose from three 60-card decks with a new Pokemon, Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie, as part of the Pokemon TCG: XY-Kalos Starter Set. In the three XY–Kalos starter set decks, you'll find other new Pokemon from Kalos. The set's deluxe version will include one booster pack for the Pokemon TCG: Black & White Series booster packs.
The XYKalos Starter Set introduces Fairy-type Pokemon and essential Fairy Energy. Fairy is the 11th Pokemon type in Pokemon TCG, and this is the first new type added since 2012's addition of the Dragon type. To attack Fairy-type Pokemon, players will need essential Fairy Energy (the ninth Energy type in Pokemon TCG).
