Evolving Skies, the seventh expansion in the Sword & Shield Series of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, was released on August 27, 2021. It was released in Japan as the Skyscraping Perfection/Blue Sky Stream dual expansion on July 9, 2021. Together, they form the seventh expansion to the Pokemon Card Game Sword & Shield Era.
Evolving Skies consists primarily of cards sourced from Blue Sky Stream and Japanese Skyscraping Perfect expansions. It also includes some cards from Eevee Heroes and cards not found in Chilling Reign from Jet-Black Spirit, Silver Lance and Peerless Fighters.
The expansion focuses on Alloy Pokemon Duraludon and Sky High Pokemon Rayquaza. Both are included in Pokemon V and Pokemon VMAX. The former features its Gigantamax form. These two are just a few of the many Pokemon the Dragon type represents, and they have not been included in the TCG since Cosmic Eclipse's expansion of the Sun & Moon Series.
Although the Fairy type was removed, Dragon-type Pokemon still have attacks that require two types of Energy. However, they no longer have Weaknesses. Different aesthetics are also available for Dragon-type Pokemon cards. These include claw marks in the top right corner, a graphic with a gold-tinged graphic left of the Weakness boxes, and the Dragon-type symbol behind the body text on nonvariant cards.
