Xiaomi has in POCO one of its subsidiaries and in Pocophone F1, launched in August 2018, one of the most successful mobile phones in the market. Now we wait for the Pocophone F2 and highlight its specs and possible price in UK.
The Chinese giant has secured POCO as a sub-brand, but we do not know if it will launch new products in the last month of 2019 and with everything open for 2020.
POCO F2 release date could be 2020
Xiaomi guaranteed the maintenance of the POCO brand, but apart from that, it did little to confirm or deny a future POCO F2 that by miracle would arrive in 2019. If it exists and is in the company's plans, it will arrive in 2020.
Since the Pocophone F1 used the then-high-end SoC Snapdragon 845, it is reasonable to expect the Snapdragon 855 Plus to become cheaper as the new SD 865 is produced on a large scale, or even to use the latter.
We believe this is the main reason for the long waiting time for the Pocophone F2, which should arrive at the end of the year, or early next year, with some of the best specs available on the market and at a very competitive price.
Pocophone F2 specs can be deluxe:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus or 865 Processor
- 6 to 8 GB of RAM
- 128 to 256 GB of internal storage
- 6.4 inch OLED display with Full-HD + resolution
- On-screen fingerprint reader
- Rear camera with 4 sensors (main 64 MP + 8 MP + 13 MP)
- Wide angle, ultra wide angle, optical zoom and ToF
- Front camera puncturing the screen (20 MP)
- 4000 mAh battery with fast charging at 27 W
- Google's Android 10-based Xiaomi MIUI 11
- Stereo speakers
In addition to the high-end processor, Pocophone F2 specifications will include 6 or 8 GB RAM, plus various software optimizations (MIUI) to ensure excellent performance.
You can enjoy 128 or 256 GB of storage depending on the version chosen. On the other hand, we do not have support for micro SD memory cards for expansion.
The design will be very familiar to this Xiaomi.
Regarding the design we look very similar in general to the current model, the POCO F1. However, we have a marked reduction in margins and the adoption of a perforated screen, as suggested by patents.
The materials of construction may continue to use polycarbonate plastic as their main component. Something that will help keep the price low, but can now gain a new texture and finer workmanship.
The incredible price / quality ratio on specs
The main camera at the rear should maintain the POCO F1's vertical alignment, but will now have two more cameras. The ToF sensor (Time of flight) will be one of them, being in charge of doing a three-dimensional mapping.
A new main sensor for 64 MP (Samsung GW1), already in use on the latest Redmi. To this will be added a possibly 8 MP sensor for the ultra wide angle and a 16 MP sensor for the optical zoom lens.
The battery will have at least 4000 mAhbut hopefully this time it will not make the smartphone noticeably thick. We also rely on the latest fast loading technology from Xiaomi.
There are several rumors surrounding the Pocophone F2
Rumors also suggest the use of dual speakers for the Xiaomi Pocophone F2. Something that would endow him with stereo sound, improving the media consumption experience, from gaming to YouTube movies and videos.
Something that users have also been asking for is a greater care with smartphone finishes. Although economical polycarbonate plastic gives the terminal a less polished look, this can change with F2.
The enhancements will also be present on the screen of the Pocophone F2. Compared to the 6.1-inch IPS LCD screen of the original model, the use of a OLED screen would greatly improve product quality. Smaller margins are requested.
Alternatively, POCO F2 may never be released, this being another of the rumors in circulation.
The competitive price for Xiaomi Pocophone F2
It is already taken for a company that specializes in markets such as the Indian. There, the consumer mainly values the price-quality ratio, something that should also guide the POCO F2, as in the original model.
The Pocophone F1 currently ranges from € 299 to € 400 in UK, which is the benchmark for its successor. The value may be higherespecially if this time we have no compromises on the quality of the materials.
Confirmations are scarce …
The above publication was made by one of Xiaomi's executives, responsible for the POCO brand and the Indian market. Then the manager appears to be probing public opinion about a possible Pocophone F2.
A circumstantial proof of its existence came in mid-November with the registration of a smartphone certification by the Chinese agency 3C. The product was listed under model number M1912G7BE / M1912G7BC.
The same equipment was also certified by China National Radio Agency in October 2019 and excludes support for 5G networks, even though it points to 27 W fast charging.
