Recently, the Google Pixel 4's 90Hz screen has been widely criticized for lowering the refresh rate as it glows. The so-called Smooth Display function does not work according to the content of the screen. It actually reduces the rate to 60Hz whenever the screen brightness is at or below 75%.
OnePlus being the brand that popularized 90Hz displays on non-gaming mobile phones, they could not resist making a Twitter post mocking Google. In the image, OnePlus describes the refresh rate of its equipment at 90Hz always, regardless of brightness.
As such, OnePlus is boasting a constant refresh rate on its latest phones released this year. These are the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro and McLaren Edition.
OnePlus deleted the post immediately
The most funny thing is that OnePlus almost immediately deleted the Twitter post. However, everything published on the internet rarely disappears and several screenshots have been taken.
Why did OnePlus go back to roasting Google? Possibly because OnePlus phones also do not maintain a constant refresh rate of 90Hz. The OnePlus 7 / 7T series does not reduce the brightness rate but not all content is displayed at 90Hz.
Not all applications support such a refresh rate. As such, OnePlus has probably decided not to draw any further attention, although criticism of Google is legitimate.
