Chinese OnePlus has a program open to its users to test its software news. I am talking about the OxygenOS Open Beta program, which is accessible to any user of a branded smartphone.
However, the latest versions for their latest tops have just been dropped. At issue are issues reported by OxygenOS Open Beta participants that have severely affected their equipment.
According to the company, some OnePlus 5 and 5T users have seen their smartphone not turn on after installing the latest Open Beta 26 and 24, respectively. According to reports, OxygenOS Open Beta provided via OTA has failed to install it. Something that will have caused the above inconvenience.
OxygenOS Open Beta for OnePlus 5 / 5T Caused Serious Problems
In light of these reports, and as a precautionary measure, the Chinese company has also decided to withdraw OnePlus 6 and 6T Open Beta. Although there were still no worrying reports, the tech decided to play safe.
It is not known how many users will have been affected by the above reported issues. Those who join the Open Beta program should be aware that they will be testing a firmware still with possible instabilities for their equipment.
In fact, joining this program requires a first manual installation of this firmware and consequent loss of all your data. Once this step is done, all the following versions will be received via OTA.
What brings Open Beta back to target models
OxygenOS Open Beta 26 and 24 bring OnePlus 5 and 5T optimizations for screenshots, quick responses and even improvements to the mode gaming. On the other hand, versions for models 6 and 6T only add to OnePlus Laboratory.
Indeed, the latter gives the models in question greater control over notifications. For example, you may block all of your notifications from appearing in various places on your smartphone.
That said, we can only warn our readers about the care of installing any of these versions. If you are part of the Open Beta program and have not yet installed the latest version, you may want to wait for news.
If you have been a victim of the unfortunate outcome reported above, OnePlus already has some suggestions so that you can recover your smartphone.
