Renamed leaker IceUniverse has published a photograph of the OnePlus television label, codenamed OnePlus TV Q1 Pro. The label provides some technical information but the most shocking part is its retail price: it's almost 1810 euros, converted from Indian rupee.
If that's the price, it's bad news for all enthusiastic consumers about OnePlus launching TVs. No one expected miracles but a price of almost 2000 euros is simply ridiculous.
Everything indicated that OnePlus TV would be 'budget-friendly'
OnePlus is a brand that has stood out over the years with its flagship killers. These were phones with high end specs but at a much more comfortable price.
Regarding televisions, OnePlus will compete in the Asian market for the most part. In Asia there are so-called 'emerging markets' in countries where the majority of the population has lower purchasing power. Brands like Xiaomi and Redmi have enjoyed tremendous success in India, for example.
Therefore, OnePlus' decision to attack the premium television market at these prices is somewhat of a surprise.
Are the specifications worth the price?
Recently features were shared from a OnePlus television codenamed "Dosa". These include 3GB RAM, Android Pie and 4K support. The 'Dosa' is a 55 inch model that corresponds to the size displayed on the label shared by Ice Universe.
Therefore, we can assume that OnePlus TV will cost almost 2000 euros and has specifications that do not justify the value considering the rest of the market. Looking ahead, Redmi will soon launch a 70-inch 4K television for less than 500 euros in India.
