Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, used Twitter to make an announcement that took everyone by surprise. The Chinese technology company will attend the CES technology fair for the first time to introduce us "something special".
This mysterious event will take place on January 7, 2020, right at the start of the Las Vegas fair. The Chinese company is not in the habit of taking part in major technology fairs, so we all look forward to hearing what is coming.
What can OnePlus present in January?
Since OnePlus does not usually reveal new products early in the year, we are not sure what may be coming. Not even the teaser launched by the company gives us great pointers. So the rumors are our only basis.
One of the theories that is being advanced is that this is the time chosen by the Chinese to reveal their first earbuds Fully wireless. Similar to other brands, China is also preparing to compete directly with Apple's AirPods.
This gadget could be inspired by the Bullets that OnePlus already sells. Nothing is confirmed yet and we don't know what features these might earbuds bring.
Another possibility, although less likely, is that a new mid-range smartphone will be unveiled. Rumor has it that a OnePlus 8 Lite, but its revelation as early as January would not make much sense.
Not because CES 2020 is not the place to do so, but because it would not make much sense to launch the Lite version before the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro tops. One cannot help but think that the OnePlus 8 Lite designation may be wrong. If this mid-range were revealed by another designation, then there would be no harm in doing so as early as January.
