OnePlus needs a mid-range smartphone! This is the reason!

OnePlus scheduled an event for CES on January 7 in Las Vegas. Last year, this same time, we had the first smartphone from OnePlus with 5G. A few months later, the brand unveiled its smartphone with such capabilities. This leads us to think that the brand may reveal its "lite" model in the coming weeks.

Rumors in recent times have been different from last year. For the first time since OnePlus X, OnePlus is expected to unveil a mid-range smartphone. So far called OnePlus 8 Lite.

It makes perfect sense a "Lite" model from OnePlus

For those who don't believe the brand reveals a "Lite" model because of what it said in the past, it's time to take a fresh look.

I remember OnePlus said it would not invest in a mid-range smartphone because its users and fans "just wanted a high-end".

However, the market has changed. Is very! Mid-range smartphones are becoming more popular and getting better. You no longer need a high end to be satisfied with your smartphone for a few years.

Xiaomi and Huawei are examples of this. If in 2015, when OnePlus X was unveiled, mid-range terminals weren't perfect for performance, the same goes for today's models.

OnePlus needs to win old audience

On the other hand, OnePlus is in strong competition from Xiaomi, Huawei and Realme (which is part of OnePlus group BBK). The price of OnePlus smartphones has gone up considerably in recent years and OnePlus is no longer a "Flaghsip Killer".

With a mid-range market, OnePlus would be able to offer a quality handset at a price that most people would be willing to pay. A device around 350 € to 400 €.

In short, we don't know if OnePlus will unveil OnePlus 8 Lite (or whatever its name) at CES as early as next month. I just believe the market is looking forward to a brand terminal with a more convincing price tag. I speak for me.
