India represents the world’s second largest market for smartphone sales, the first being China. According to market research firm Counterpoint, OnePlus is now the best-selling brand in the premium segment, surpassing Apple’s Samsunge.

Both Apple and Samsung compete fiercely in the premium smartphone market. However, OnePlus, despite no longer pricing “flagship killer“, it continues to have a relationship between decent quality and price. In India, purchasing power is lower, being considered an emerging market.

That is why brands like Xiaomi, Redmi, Oppo, Realme, among others proliferate with economical smartphones and with good features. Therefore, it is normal for the segment premium be won by a company like OnePlus.

OnePlus 8 was an asset in the victory

Counterpoint Research advanced that the OnePlus 8 was a key smartphone, in the conquest for the first place. Its design and performance have managed to cultivate and attract more users for the brand, becoming fans of the already existing loyal community.

Apple is now third in India

Samsung is now in second place, with Apple in third. Regarding the best-selling models, the Samsung Galaxy A71 is one of the best-selling smartphones, followed by the iPhone SE (2020) and iPhone 11. These are the “cheapest” iPhones, which makes sense according to the market in question.
