OnePlus caught using iPhone to promote OnePlus 9

OnePlus India page tweeted from an iPhone

It seems to become a habit among some smartphone manufacturers. It’s not the first, and it looks like it won’t be the last time we see someone promoting an Android device, using an iPhone.

The manufacturer that was most recently caught up in doing so was OnePlus. As you may know, the social network Twitter shows whether your tweet was sent from an Android or an iPhone. And when it came to promoting the OnePlus 9, the manufacturer’s page in India used an Apple device.

The “slip” was caught by the leaker Abhishek Yadav, who quickly shared it with humor on Twitter. “Even members of the OnePlus team like the iPhone, why should we buy OnePlus”, it reads.

THE tweet in question would eventually be erased. But it is already known that once on the internet, forever on the internet. The next tweets from those who are responsible for this OnePlus page will certainly be done with more care.

Realme or Xiaomi have also been caught doing the same

OnePlus is far from being a unique case in this type of actions. Just this week, its parent company, Realme, was caught using an iPhone in a demonstration of its Narzo 30A smartphone.

We only have to go back until last year to catch the CEO of Xiaomi using the iPhone. In a post on the social network Weibo, the executive was caught writing with an Apple smartphone.

For many it may seem like a detail, but whatever the manufacturer, this type of accident should not happen. After all, how does OnePlus (or any other brand) want to convince someone to buy their smartphones, if their employees publicly use it or device?
