The OnePlus 7T was introduced a short time ago and is now available for purchase through the manufacturer's official website. This smartphone marked a major design change, being the first of its kind to come with its horizontally oriented cameras.
Once again, the manufacturer made no reference to any type of water resistance, possibly because they decided not to perform the tests to obtain an IP certification (ingress protection). However, it seems that the manufacturer made a point of ensuring that contact with water would not be a problem for the OnePlus 7T.
OnePlus 7T interior reveals several water protections
During the disassembly of OnePlus 7T, the YouTube channel JerryRigsEverything found that the high end arrives with several elements that should ensure their water resistance.
In essence, several (red) rubber rings are present on all smartphone entries, ensuring that they are able to prevent water seepage.
This is not the first time the manufacturer has opted not to "invest" money in the expensive stress tests that are required to achieve IP certification. Instead, they prefer to ensure that their users continue to have access to a rugged, rugged smartphone at more competitive prices.
However, according to tests previously performed by JerryRigsEverything, the rear panel of the OnePlus 7T is very fragile. Most likely thanks to the large circular photographic module, the panel composed exclusively of glass eventually cracked with minimal pressure.
