New year means new smartphones and Nokia will be no exception. But according to what is now being advanced, the upcoming Nokia 9.2 will not be unveiled until the fall of this year.
The news comes from user Nokia Anew on Twitter. According to its sources, Nokia’s next high-end sees its presentation delayed by a last-minute change in its processor.
It should be noted that early rumors were that Nokia 9.2 would be featured in this year’s MWC edition. It seems that this date will have been postponed about half a year.
Use of Snapdragon 865 will have motivated this postponement
While using the latest Qualcomm processor is good news, it is saddening fans of the brand on the other. It means we will not see a new high-end from Nokia anytime soon.
Several brands will be launching new tops with the Snapdragon 865 in the first half of 2020. It is not clear why Nokia 9.2 will take so long to reach the market.
Other reasons may be behind this postponement. I remember that the Nokia 9 PureView penta camera was not surprising and the Finnish company will not want to repeat the feat in 2020.
HMD should take this extra time to smooth out some rough edges on its next top smartphone. However, its late release may compromise its success, as by this time we will have Xiaomi Mi 10, Galaxy S20 or OnePlus 8 Pro equipment on the market.
Meanwhile, Nokia is expected to unveil lower-end equipment in the coming months. HMD is reportedly unveiling the Nokia 8.2 5G at the Barcelona one in February. This will be the brand’s first model with a pop-up camera and promises to be one of the most affordable 5G equipment on the market.
