HMD Global remains committed to bringing the glory of the old days back to the Finnish manufacturer's smartphones, and so far has done an extraordinary job. Now information is coming for the first time about your upcoming Android One smartphone, the Nokia 8.1.
In recent times we have seen very interesting smartphones presented by the Finnish manufacturer, being able to present a very good price / quality ratio and all of them integrated in the Android One project.
Nokia 7.1 will be the next smartphone to receive Android Pie 9.0
This new Nokia 8.1 may come with some surprises that fans would probably not expect. Its predecessor presented itself as a true high end, however this new model seems to be aimed at the mid-range segment.
Thanks to its appearance on the Geekbench platform in performance testing, we have now learned for the first time some of its specifications. While not a new high-end, it will certainly deliver top-notch performance.
Nokia 8.1 to be next brand Android One to reach mid-range segment
According to the listing, Nokia 8.1 will arrive equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC processor. This is Qualcomm's latest processor for mid-range smartphones, delivering impressive performance and great AI (artificial intelligence) capabilities.
Compared to its predecessor, it might look like a "downgrade ", but surely HMD Global knows exactly what it is doing. Quite possibly, the move of this model to a lower segment indicates that its arrival will not be far from the presentation of the mythical Nokia 9 and its 5 cameras.
From the list revealed at Geekbench, we also learned that it will arrive with a modest 4GB of RAM. Although not very impressive, with the help of the SD710 will be more than enough to ensure solid performance.
One of the highlights is the presence of Android Pie. This may be the company's first smartphone to hit the market with the latest version of Google's operating system. Although not specified so far. Most likely this new smartphone will also be integrated into the Android One project.
Finally, we do not know yet when HMD Global might be planning to launch the new smartphone. However, it would not be surprising that it was introduced only in early 2019. This way, the manufacturer would not have to risk a direct competition between two of its smartphones.
