This morning we finally know the date when the long-awaited Surface Duo will hit the market. Microsoft has already pre-ordered the foldable in the United States, and will sell it in that market for $ 1399 – about € 1190.
Official sales start on September 10, which means that it is on that date that it should reach the first consumers. With this announcement, we also have access to equipment specifications, which are not exactly eye-catching.
To begin with, the terminal will not have the most current processor. There will be the Snapdragon 855 that we saw on devices like the Xiaomi Mi 9, launched in early 2019. And it remains to be seen whether the 3577mAh battery will be sufficient for decent autonomy.
This has two OLED screens with FullHD + resolution of 5.6 inches. It can be folded to 360º to be used in one or two screens, and the margins are quite pronounced.
Unlike other folders available on the market, this one does not have a literal connection between the two screens. As they are separated, you will always have the black bar dividing them.
Microsoft Surface Duo will have Android
The great purpose of this equipment is to deliver a productivity experience that uses both screens and the Android operating system – a novelty at Microsoft. Applications like Microsoft Office or OneDrive have been redesigned for the format, as well as some third-party applications like the Amazon Kindle app.
For the time being, the equipment will be sold on various operators in the United States. International availability is not yet known, so we will have to wait for more information.
