The Mi MIX line has become, over the years, one of Xiaomi's most popular, thanks to state-of-the-art specifications and irreverence in its design. That's why there was so much anticipation created around the arrival of Xiaomi Mi MIX 4. All that anticipation grew exponentially as it turned out that MIX 4 would be released as Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha.
The change in nomenclature made fans even more anxious, hoping for a revolution in its design that would fascinate any tech lover. Today was "D-Day" and the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha was finally officially unveiled. This new smartphone is a "two-pronged stick" featuring a futuristic design accompanied by a price that will be beyond the reach of the overwhelming majority.
Mi MIX Alpha may not have been released as a replacement for Mi MIX 4
Although so far everything indicates that MIX Alpha has been introduced as a replacement for Mi MIX 4, I still don't want to believe that this is really true. Xiaomi needs to have a trump card up its sleeve (Mi MIX4) or else just made a big mistake.
There is no doubt that the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha is a fantastic smartphone, featuring state-of-the-art specifications and a design never seen before. However, being a 'concept smartphone', it comes at a price that won't be accessible to 99% of Xiaomi fans (€ 2500). For this reason it will also be produced in very limited quantities.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 was expected by millions of users worldwide, with innovative design and high specification specifications. The Chinese manufacturer cannot risk losing all these users to its rivals, which increasingly launch more interesting smartphones.
You didn't have to change much to make the Mi MIX Alpha the perfect smartphone.
This new 'concept smartphone' could really be the perfect smartphone for the millions of fans waiting for the arrival of the Mi MIX 4. Instead of the 'surround screen', just a cascading screen like Huawei and Vivo would do. This would surely bring the price of the device to "normal" values.
Maintaining its impressive triple rear camera (108MP + 20MP + 12MP) and state-of-the-art specifications, this would surely be one of the best smartphones of the year.
The only issue left to resolve would be its front camera. With the current design of the MIX Alpha, this is not a problem thanks to the rear panel display. Even if they eventually opted for a small notch, punch hole or pop-up camera, users would certainly be much more satisfied.
Vivo NEX 3 could be the real replacement for Mi MIX 4
If Xiaomi really decides not to release a Mi MIX 4, many users may look for alternatives outside the Xiaomi ecosystem. In this case, it is possible that Vivo NEX 3 will end up as one of the best alternatives. Especially considering the excellent value for money and its innovative design.
While their cameras are not as impressive compared to current offerings on the market, they are capable of delivering impressive results. In addition, this is also a smartphone with support for 5G networks, making it even more appealing.
