MEO follows the example of Vodafone and NOWO on Android TV. But there is a problem


After several years of waiting, MEO finally launched its app for the Android TV platform at the end of July. After having already bet on the Apple platform, this operator now turns to a platform with even more customers. But there is a catch.

If you have an Android TV Box Nvidia Shield or a Xiaomi Mi Box S (as is my case), the truth is that you can now use the app without any problems. Just search for it on the Google Play Store on your device.

App is not supported by all devices with Android TV

But if you have another Android TV box or Smart TV with this operating system, you’ll have to wait. For the time being, the MEO app is only compatible with the devices mentioned below. I tested it on the brand new Mi TV Stick which also has Android 9 and is not yet supported.

The experience with the MEO app is excellent

If you have an Nvidia Shield TV, Shield TV Pro or Xiaomi Mi Box S, your experience will be very satisfying. The app is very well designed, very fluid, and very simple to use.


It was not even necessary to do any type of authentication to enter. This means that it will only work when connected to the home Wi-Fi network – unless you have MEO Go Multi, I suppose.


Here you will be able to watch the television running, and the automatic recordings of the last 7 days. This is the experience I expected to see from a MEO app. It took years to follow the example of Vodafone or NOWO, but it created an equally good or even superior app. However, I hope that soon I can extend support to more equipment.
