Late last year, Xiaomi acquired Meitu's hardware division to launch perfect smartphones for selfie lovers. Information is still scarce, but it seems that your first smartphone will arrive to claim the title of 'King of Selfies'.
Everything we know about the mysterious smartphone comes from a poster that was published on the Chinese social network, Weibo. In the picture we can see a smartphone with a design very similar to the newly presented ASUS Zenfone 6 with a rear camera flip.
Is this the next 'King of Selfies'?
Interestingly, Zenfone 6 was able to reach the highest score ever in DxOMark reviews for selfies. Therefore, it is expected that the Meitu / Xiaomi will be able to exceed its score, coming equipped with a total of three sensors.
It has not yet been confirmed the details of each of the sensors and their lenses, only that the main one will have 49 megapixels. However, we can speculate about the possible choices of Xiaomi. It would be interesting to see an ultra wide angle lens integrated, as well as a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. But the second option seems to be quite unlikely.
From what we can see in the picture, the mechanism seems to work identically to the ASUS smartphone. In its base position, the square photo module was perfectly fitted to the rear panel. When the 'front camera' is activated, it will automatically rise to face the user.
What we know about Meitu / Xiaomi's first smartphone
In the image we see only the back panel of the smartphone. Its edges are quite rounded, it appears to arrive with a glossy finish and a gradient hue (white / pink).
As for your name, there is not much information. On the poster you can read the combination of the words Meitu and "Little Fairy". It seems unlikely that this will be the official name of the smartphone, even though Lin Bin himself – President of Xiaomi – mentioned the same name in a Weibo publication.
