Anne Fredericks (Toni Collette), an American millionaire recently arrived in Paris, is trying to recover her marriage to Bob Fredericks (Harvey Keitel), so she decides to have a refined dinner at her mansion to welcome her friends. and “announce” the stay in Parisian lands.
Everything seems to go beautifully. However, Anne realizes that the table has thirteen guests and everything can go wrong.

A comedy that's anything but conventional …
“Madam” is a dramatic comedy. Indeed, I offer very funny moments to the viewer – especially those created by the remarkable actress Rossy de Palma, who plays the character of Maria (whom we know so well from the films of Spanish director Pedro Almodovar). The actress delights the audience with her comic expressions, which often, with just one glance, can make her laugh.
On the other hand, it also brings out the old question of class inequality and the impossibility of love between people of different social status.
Paradoxically, it is in a sophisticated environment and very glam that the viewer watches a passion between the maid Maria and one of the couple's friends. This, David Morgan (Michael Smiley), in turn, was invited to dinner starring in one of the most hilarious moments of the movie.

In fact, in this atmosphere of contrasts that French director Amanda Sthers creates this comedy that is anything but conventional and can mark a new phase of her career.
Although the movie started off quite rhythmically, it leaves some scenes a little short. But of course, it's still a very fun comedy to watch. If only for its "sui generis" ending.
