The Logitech MX Master 3 is the best work mouse you can buy. It is the latest model in the long line of products dedicated to professionals and smart users to be placed on the market by Logitech and comes in two flavors.
We can purchase the Mac version with the color scheme to match Apple's gray and depending mainly on the Bluetooth connection, or in the conventional version with a lighter complexion and only in the latter we have the USB adapter in the box.
The price of this wireless mouse for work is close to 100 euros.
The highlights of the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse
✅ Body sculpted to accommodate hand perfectly
✅ Slightly rough but comfortable texture
✅ Battery life for up to 70 days
✅ Various convenient buttons for various functions
✅ Can be used on up to 3 computers with Logitech Flow
✅ Logitech Options makes it even more useful, versatile and personalized
❌ Mac version does not include the USB-A universal receiver (dongle)
The build quality of the mouse is excellent
Height: 51 mm
Width: 43 mm
Depth: 124.9 mm
Weight: 151 grams
The coating material of the new mouse is more comfortable, with a texture that ensures good hand grip. The main and secondary scroll wheel (side) have a chrome finish and metallic construction that give it a touch premium.
The body of the MX Master 3 is constructed of solid and well-finished plastic, with a smooth texture, particularly sober in the Mac edition, equally appealing in the conventional version.
In both cases there is a noticeable improvement in construction compared to 2H.
This work mouse comes packaged well and in the box, in addition to the quick start manuals we only have the USB-C cable for charging, corresponding to a USB-C port on the body of the product.
The Mac version does not include the universal USB-A adapter (unifier), using only the Bluetooth connection.
The design and buttons of the advanced mouse
Scroll: 2 wheels
The design is more organic and ergonomic than ever in the MX Master 3. While the predecessor 2S has some strong angles, the improved and perfected version is guided by the curves that guarantee a perfect fit of the hand, even large hands!
It is only available for right-handed – right hand – with the design improvements being very significant. Not only does it look more professional, but also the quality of the materials used.
We have a thumb rest that also has one of the buttons and where the previous model had this button stuck, in the new Master 3 the problem was corrected. We can press the button with the thumb, without gradually getting stuck.
The side also has two discrete buttons to advance or rewind (redo or cancel), below the secondary scroll. It is one of the biggest changes compared to the Master 2S, with the new buttons a firmer and more confident click.
When picking up and using the mouse, the thumb thus has access to 3 buttons without any effort. The two symmetrical forwards / backwards and the button on the base or rest of the finger that unfolds in several actions when combined with the movement of the mouse.
Plenty of buttons and plenty of customization
For example, when you click the thumb button and drag the mouse forward, Mission Control is launched on the Mac. When you load and pull the mouse back, it triggers another action. This can be controlled and defined in the Logitech Options software.
The two main buttons have a good click, not too loud, but nothing silent, firm and convinced. Using the two main buttons requires little effort since the hand fits perfectly into the body of this Logitech MX Master 3.
The infinite scroll, faster and more precise
Scroll: Infinite or Granular
The main scroll wheel can also serve as a button and has two modes of operation. The first mode gives us a granular control, with certain intervals or defined steps and the second gives us the infinite scroll.
To change between the scroll modes, just click on the central button, immediately behind the main wheel.
Personally, I preferred the infinite scroll in most scenarios, with the granular scroll being useful for reading a document carefully, for example. This mechanism is now controlled by magnets, being one of the improvements over the Master 2S.
Logitech Options software is very useful for Master 3
Software: Logitech Options
Platforms: Windows and Mac
Options greatly expands the customization and utility of the Logitech MX Master 3. Not only can we see a guide with all the functions and buttons on the mouse, but we can assign different and functions to each of the 6 buttons in addition to the main two.
In fact, for each of these accessory buttons we can create a profile for various programs and applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Final Cut Pro X, among others. For each application / program the mouse can perform different functions.
In addition, we can also adjust the sensitivity of the scroll, various parameters and behaviors of the mouse. There we also have access to battery levels, we can save and synchronize the user profiles created in our account and much more.
The use of Logitech Options is highly recommended to get the most out of this professional wireless mouse. It is intuitive, full of options and controls, and free of charge, a “mandatory” platform.
It is also through Options that we can activate Flow to use this mouse on up to three devices.
Flow lets us use Master 3 on up to 3 devices
We can pair the Logitech MX Master with up to three devices. Be it three computers, three tablets, or three smartphones (or one from each). The Mac version does not include the unifying device (the USB adapter), but it can work with it.
The connection is established via Bluetooth and at the bottom of the mouse we have the Easy Switch button channel selector. The active channel is indicated by the LED that accompanies each of the three icons.
Flow also allows you to copy a document from one computer and paste it on the other. It is a tool for intensive users and works in practice, allowing you to copy on one side and paste on the other, all via Bluetooth.
Wireless mouse with Bluetooth connectivity
Sensitivity: 4,000 DPI
Connection: Bluetooth or 2.4 Ghz wireless
Logitech MX Master 3 connects to computers and other devices via the Bluetooth connection or the 2.4 GHz unifying device (USB-A) which is not included in the Mac version.
This mouse has a sensitivity of 4,000 DPI, more than enough for use at work, but it should be noted that there are mice with 16,000 or more DPI's in the segment gaming.
Although the resolution / sensitivity is more than sufficient for the scenarios in which the Master 3 will be used, I would have liked to see an improvement, however small, compared to the Master 2S model.
The best autonomy in a wireless mouse for work
Autonomy: up to 70 days
Loading: 100% in 2 hours
Autonomy is a “no problem”. It is rare to load this mouse, but if you need it in two hours the process is complete. We also have the indicator LED, behind the secondary scroll, which tells us when it may need charging.
The charging port is conveniently placed at the front – USB Type C – as is the included cable. It is a simple and we can continue to use the mouse while it loads cable. Autonomy is fantastic.
The verdict and opinion 4gnews
Worthy of the nickname Master. It will not have been easy to reinvent the wheel, or to reformulate one of the best mice on the market, but Logitech achieved it with Master 3. It is absolutely brilliant, effective and professional in all aspects that really matter.
Well built, elegant, comfortable and made for big hands (only straight hands), it solves some of the flaws of the previous model and improves the best aspects of this one. The battery doesn't run out, and when it needs charging, the process is quick.
It is available in “two flavors”, for Mac and in the version standard, the first being connectable only via Bluetooth, or if they already have a universal unifier per home, it combines very well with the MX Keys.
I started from an MX Master 2S and found in the MX Master 3 a product full of good surprises.
In 5 stars possible I give you 4.8. I would have liked to see a sensor with more DPI's compared to the previous version and for those who may be looking for a mouse for their left hand, here is bad luck. Other than that, it is the best work mouse we can buy.
The mouse is available at Amazon.ES for less than 100 euros, both in the version standard as in the Mac version. Before you go, check out our verdict on the MX Keys, the perfect keyboard to accompany this professional mouse.
