LG has announced that it will introduce two of today’s biggest cloud gaming services to its latest TVs by the end of 2021. Google Stadia is expected to be available in the second half of this year on OLED, QNED and NanoCell TVs, while GeForce Now it may take some more time.
In addition to being excellent news for owners of LG’s most high-end models, this initiative also marks the continued commitment of Google and Nvidia to the growth of their respective cloud gaming platforms.
Google Stadia and GeForce Now arrive in LG TVs in 2021
Google had already promised that Stadia would be included in all Google TV equipment (including the latest Chromecast) in the first half of 2021.
Sony, for example, has already said that all of its televisions launched this year will run Google TV, so they too will be able to offer compatibility with Stadia.
As far as GeForce Now is concerned, the platform is for now only available on Nvidia Shield, MacOS, Windows, Chrome OS, Android and iOS (although still in beta on Apple devices).
For now the service is not offered on any television model, but this will be something that Nvidia will be very interested in changing, since it would reach a wider audience and in a much more comfortable and practical way.
Apparently LG will be the first partner of the green team in this new adventure, largely due to its relatively recent bet on offering options of enormous value to players.
Models prior to 2021 may also have a surprise
For now it is not known whether these applications can also be made available on LG models from 2020 or earlier years. The promise is that they will be included in the latest televisions that benefit from a set of video-oriented settings.
Adjustments to the refresh rate or input lag are allowed, all issues that can significantly change the gaming experience, especially now that we are entering a new generation.
Both Google Stadia and GeForce Now will support 4K resolution and 5.1 surround sound (at least for Stadia Pro subscribers).
